waste of effort.. help

i bought new blocks of sculpey and translucent liquid sculpey and tried doing some sculptures last night, but it seems as though i lost my skills on doing them...

most of the sculptures were out of proportion, hideous and basically.... unattractive to look at...

(sigh)

can someone enlighten me? feed me your ingenious skills...
